The Honest Comparison

Sandals or Club Med? We book both. Here's the truth.

We're a Certified Club Med Specialist and a Sandals & Beaches Elite Advisor — and the price is the same either way. So we have no horse in this race. Here's the difference, the way we'd explain it to a friend.

The 30-Second Answer

Short on time? Here's the gist.

Both are excellent at what they do. They're just doing different things.

Sandals & Beaches

Choose Sandals if…

You want the two of you, a gorgeous Caribbean beach, and absolutely nothing to manage. Sandals is adults-only, couples-only luxury — up to 16 restaurants at a single resort, premium drinks, butler suites, even unlimited scuba for certified divers. The energy is romantic and unhurried; nobody hands you a volleyball unless you ask for one.

Club Med

Choose Club Med if…

You want your days full and your wallet closed. Club Med invented the all-inclusive in 1950 and still does activity better than anyone — 60+ included sports with real instruction, from flying trapeze to sailing to skiing. The energy is social and a little joyfully ridiculous; you'll know the staff by name in two days.

Traveling with kids?

Sandals itself is adults-only — Beachesis the same company's family brand, with waterparks, kids' camps, and Sesame Street characters. Club Med welcomes families at most villages, with kids' clubs from 4 months to 17 years included.

Side by Side

The honest comparison.

Eleven things people actually ask us about — straight answers, including the ties.

Who it's for

Sandals & Beaches

Couples at Sandals — adults-only, couples-only, every resort. Families and groups at Beaches, the same company's family brand.

Club Med

Everyone — couples, families, solo travelers, friend groups. A handful of villages are adults-only (Columbus Isle, Turkoise).

The energy

Sandals & Beaches

Romantic and polished. Built around the two of you — quiet dinners, beachfront cabanas, no agenda unless you make one.

Club Med

Social and lively. G.O.s, theme nights, Crazy Signs — the village pulls you in, exactly as much as you want it to.

Included activities

Sandals & Beaches

Water-forward: snorkeling, kayaks, paddleboards, pickleball — and unlimited scuba for certified divers at most resorts.

Club Med

60+ sports with instruction included — flying trapeze, circus school, sailing, tennis, archery, and skiing with the lift pass covered.

Dining

Sandals & Beaches

Up to 16 restaurants at a single resort — eat somewhere new every night for a week, no reservations needed.

Club Med

A grand market-style main restaurant plus specialty venues. Honestly: a tie on quality — Sandals wins on sheer restaurant count.

Drinks

Sandals & Beaches

Premium liquor, wine, and beer included, from swim-up bars to candlelit lounges.

Club Med

Open bar all day; the Exclusive Collection tier adds champagne from 6 PM. Honestly: a tie.

Kids

Sandals & Beaches

Not at Sandals — it's adults-only across the brand. Beaches is the family answer: waterparks, kids' camps, Sesame Street characters.

Club Med

Kids' clubs from 4 months to 17 years — your kids are in circus school while you're out sailing.

Adults-only option

Sandals & Beaches

The entire Sandals brand. Every resort, every day.

Club Med

Select villages — Columbus Isle and Turkoise are the two we send couples to most.

Snow & ski

Sandals & Beaches

None — these brands are Caribbean-only, by design.

Club Med

The only all-inclusive with ski villages — lift pass and lessons included (Val Thorens, Québec Charlevoix, and more).

Where they are

Sandals & Beaches

Caribbean only: Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Curaçao, St. Vincent — with Beaches in Turks & Caicos and Jamaica.

Club Med

80+ villages on 5 continents — Caribbean beaches to the French Alps to beach-and-safari in South Africa.

Price ballpark

Sandals & Beaches

Premium. Headline rates run high, and butler suites and overwater bungalows climb from there.

Club Med

Wide range. Everyday villages often pack more included activity per dollar; the Exclusive Collection prices like true luxury.

The je ne sais quoi

Sandals & Beaches

A butler walking your drinks out to your reserved cabana. Romance taken seriously.

Club Med

The entire village doing Crazy Signs at sunset. You arrive a guest and leave a member.

One more honest note on price: the room tier, the season, and the specific resort move the number far more than the brand does. And the price through us is the same as booking direct — for both.

Pick by Traveler Type

Which one is yours?

Find yourself on this list and you're most of the way to a decision.

Honeymooners

Our call: Sandals

This is the trip Sandals was built for. Adults-only, couples-only, butler suites, candlelit dinners on the beach — romance is the product, not a package add-on.

Active & social travelers

Our call: Club Med

Sixty-plus included sports with actual instruction, G.O.s who play alongside you, and a village that turns strangers into dinner plans. Nobody does it better.

Families

Our call: Beaches or Club Med

Honest answer: both are excellent. Beaches if your kids live for waterparks and Sesame Street; Club Med if you want them learning trapeze while you're off sailing. We'll help you split the hair.

Certified divers

Our call: Both — with a catch

Sandals includes unlimited scuba for certified divers at most resorts — gear, boats, and guides. Club Med has world-class dive water (Columbus Isle especially), but scuba is a paid add-on at select villages.

Skiers

Our call: Club Med

No contest — it's the only one with snow villages. Ski-in/ski-out in the Alps and Canada with lift pass, lessons, and après all included. Sandals doesn't make a ski boot.

Want-it-all luxury

Our call: Dead heat

Sandals answers with butler suites and overwater bungalows; Club Med answers with the Exclusive Collection — concierge, suites, champagne from 6 PM. Pick by setting and energy, not by tier.

Straight Answers

The questions we actually get.

Which one actually costs more?
Honestly: it depends on the room tier, the season, and the specific resort more than the brand. Sandals' headline rates generally start higher, and butler and overwater categories climb well past that. Club Med's everyday villages often deliver more included activity per dollar, while the Exclusive Collection prices like true luxury. Either way, you pay the same through us as booking direct — so compare the trips, not the booking method.
Which is better for a honeymoon?
Sandals is our default — it is, quite literally, built for this exact trip. But if the two of you get restless on a lounger by day three, a Club Med Exclusive Collection village gives you the romance and a full menu of things to do together. Tell us how you actually vacation and we'll call it.
Can we do Sandals with kids?
No — Sandals is adults-only across the entire brand, no exceptions. But that's exactly why Beaches exists: same company, same luxury standard, designed for families — waterparks, kids' camps, Sesame Street characters, and butler-level suites for the grown-ups. Club Med is the other great family answer, with kids' clubs from 4 months to 17 years.
Is Club Med too "camp"-feeling for quiet travelers?
Fair question — the stereotype has a kernel of truth. Crazy Signs, theme nights, and G.O. energy are real, and most people are surprised by how much they love them. But every bit of it is optional, and some villages run genuinely quiet — Columbus Isle is the most peaceful Club Med we've ever visited. Tell us your noise tolerance and we'll match the village to it.
Does booking through an advisor cost extra?
No. Same price as booking direct, for both brands — the resorts pay us, you don't. What you gain is the part the websites can't do: matching you to the right resort, room category, and week, and having someone in your corner before, during, and after the trip.

No Wrong Answer Here

Still torn? That's literally our job.

Tell us who's going, when, and what a perfect day looks like — we'll tell you which brand and which resort fit. Same price as booking direct, either way.
