No beach on this one, and that's the point. Los Establos sits high in Boquete, the cool, green coffee country of western Panama, on a 16-acre estate that was a working coffee plantation and horse stable more than a century ago. Just 22 rooms and suites, gardens everywhere, and a terrace that looks straight at Volcán Barú. Expect days around 75°F, not 95°F.

Airport transfer: David (DAV) to the resort is about 45 minutes by road. The resort quotes a taxi at about US $25 per person; we'll arrange it with your quote
Resort fee: US $29 per room, per night, charged by the resort and paid locally at the resort
Spa treatments and the treetop specialty dinner: both available, both at an extra charge
Panama City stopover: an optional night or two with a Panama Canal tour, quoted separately
